The tools bring together an array of data to track usage of electricity, natural gas and water. They also monitor labor costs and measure the output of both landfill waste and recyclable materials. The dashboards include baseline data for each metric, helping companies to set goals for lowering costs, reducing energy use and producing less waste in customer warehouses managed by Kenco. In all, the service measures 13 metrics that provide an assessment of site-specific sustainability. Kenco said it began working on the dashboards last year with a pilot group of sites it manages for a major manufacturer in the healthcare industry. In the process, it discovered opportunities to implement "zero-waste" efforts, improving lighting with motion-sensing controls, and boosting energy efficiency in air systems. Kenco's services include distribution, fulfillment, transportation management, material handling, real estate management and information technology.
