TradeStone Factory Footprint, product lifecycle management (PLM) software from TradeStone Software, Inc., has acquired its first regular user. Kohl's Illinois Inc., the apparel retailer, is the first TradeStone customer to go live with the new quality and social-compliance tool. The software is intended to ensure that products and factories producing goods on behalf of a retailer or distributor are safe and conform to specific product-development guidelines. Factory Footprint is integrated into the retailer's product development, sourcing and order processes. It ensures that vendors are meeting the social, legal and ethical standards established by each retailer. Users get enhanced visibility into suppliers' factory operations. They can set up vendor and factory-compliance inspections, schedule audits automatically, track product-testing results and reschedule key tests based on those results. Factory Footprint gives vendors and factories easy access to appropriate Code of Conduct documentation and certification requirements, based on the products being made and countries involved in the trading. The software alerts retailers on a real-time basis in the event of a problem in the factory, to guarantee that action is taken immediately, the vendor said.
