Built by NanoCool, the system achieves a temperature of 4 degrees C in less than five minutes, without the use of gel packs or dry ice. A cooling system evaporates water over time, with the process activated by the push of a button inside the box. The lighter packaging weighs less than half of some gel-pack systems, FedEx claimed. The system offers regulatory compliance for both infectious substances and non-infectious clinical samples. The packaging can be used in combination with the SenseAware technology and FedEx Priority Alert services.
