Designed for both the iOS and Android operating systems, the apps allow drivers instantly to log in to their companies' Kewill Logistics operating system. They receive a list of trips to be made, then relay the status of each stage directly from standard touchscreen smartphones or tablets. In the process, said Kewill, logistics organizations can easily communicate with drivers, provide instructions in real time and keep customers informed about shipment progress, all without investing in separate software or hardware. The technology extends the reach of the logistics operation to third-party transport providers by allowing them to connect without having to be on the logistics service provider's network, or invest in additional hardware. The mobile apps guide drivers through the stages of each trip, for which pre-defined statuses such as pickup, in progress and en route can be selected, ensuring that the most efficient route and schedule are followed. In addition, drivers can make freehand comments, allowing for the capture of pertinent shipping information, such as damage to packaging or delayed shipments due to traffic incidents. Both stages and statuses are fully configurable to suit the LSP's business processes, Kewill said.
