Pinnacle Foods Group Inc., a large, North America-based maker of packaged food products, has signed a new transportation-management services contract with DSC Logistics. Under the arrangement, DSC will handle transportation for Pinnacle from its logistics centers in California. The announcement comes four months after Pinnacle selected DSC to provide warehousing and distribution-management services. Now, the vendor will manage shipments out of its own facilities in Mira Loma and Tracy, Calif. DSC will receive Pinnacle products from the customer's six primary manufacturing sites in the Midwest and East Coast, supplying both warehousing and transportation to major retailers throughout 11 states on the West Coast and in Canada. Ann Drake, chief executive officer of DSC Logistics, said the company is working to provide Pinnacle with opportunities for money-saving shipment consolidation. Pinnacle's brands include Duncan Hines baking mixes, Log Cabin and Mrs. Butterworth's syrup, Open Pit barbeque sauce, Hungry Man and Swanson frozen dinners, and Vlasic pickles. DSC is headquartered in Des Plaines, Ill.
