SAP AG has completed a new series of extensions and innovations for its NetWeaver software platform. According to the vendor, the offerings will help companies to set up strategic platforms that promote business-process innovation without disrupting existing applications. The new functionality is grouped under four "pillars": improved user access and productivity, accelerated application integration and business-process composition, streamlined access to information, and automated governance of service-oriented architecture (SOA). SAP has already released the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment and Enterprise Services Repository. It has announced the release of NetWeaver Process Integration by the end of 2007. In a related announcement, SAP said that individual developers can, for the first time, purchase annual developer licenses for the NetWeaver platform via the SAP Developer Network and Business Process Expert community sites. The new subscription programs make NetWeaver more easily accessible to developers, software architects, consultants and business-process experts, the company said.
