Polar Speed specializes in temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and surgery centers, in addition to patients. It operates a fleet of 118 actively monitored, temperature-controlled vehicles for moving both 2-8 degrees Celsius refrigerated and 15-25 degrees Celsius products. Also included in the deal are three facilities with advanced warehouse-management systems and quality-assurance capability. Customers include a number of well-known global pharmaceutical brands, according to UPS. The acquisition will help the company to serve healthcare customers who want to reach the U.K. market, UPS said.
