DHL Express introduced the service as a means of guaranteeing early morning 9:00 a.m. delivery, regardless of traffic bottlenecks. Initially aimed at financial-services customers, the offering will be expanded to include additional customers in the Los Angeles area. International shipments arrive at DHL’s gateway operation at Los Angeles International Airport, with select packages transported by helicopter to a dedicated heliport in downtown L.A. A DHL courier meets the helicopter and providers the final mile delivery. The copter can transport up to 800 pounds of letters and packages. DHL also offers a helicopter delivery service in New York City.
