Exclusive opportunity – site tour of Port de Barcelona
In a development designed to offer European Supply Chain & Logistics Summit attendees the chance to see one of the world’s biggest logistics gateways in action, event organiser WTG events will offer an exclusive site tour at this year’s summit.
Open to pre-registered delegates this site tour will offer supply chain and logistics professionals with the chance to explore the Port of Barcelona, which specialises in general cargo and high value-added cargo such as consumer goods, electronics products and vehicles. The Port is described as a five-in-one: the commercial port (containers, vehicles, Ro-ro and bulks); cruiser port; logistics port; energy port; and the citizen’s port, called the Port Vell.
The facilities offered at the Port of Barcelona provide a benchmark for other ports within the Euromediterranean area, and it is recognised as the logistics gateway, linking a multitude of international markets including those in the Far East and Latin America. Port of Barcelona is Catalonia’s main transport and service infrastructure and has more than 100 regular shipping lines operated by 163 shipowners connecting Barcelona with 850 ports in the five continents. Barcelona is also Spain’s main port for international traffic.
One of the highlights of the tour will be the brand new container terminal, BEST (Barcelona Europe South Terminal) which is the first semi-automated terminal in the HPH Group, the most technologically advanced port development project in Spain and the biggest on-dock railway terminal of any port in the Mediterranean.
The tour will take place on Monday 16th June, and is open to all European Supply Chain and Logistics Summit delegates who have registered in advance to attend the tour. This event takes place as part of the wider European Supply Chain and Logistics Summit ( 16-18 June) being held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, Barcelona, Spain. This annual summit provides the meeting, networking and learning place for international senior supply chain and logistics professionals and annually attracts over 350 industry leaders within this field.
