Solution: FORTE conducted a network optimization study and recommended opening a second, 300,000-square-foot DC in an optimal geographic location to best support the medium-term geographic growth plan. The client is proceeding with construction and engaged FORTE to design and implement the material handling automation solution for the Greenfield facility.
Results: The proposed FORTE solutions are expected to deliver an estimated transportation cost reduction of 18 percent in year one and a cumulative estimated operating cost saving of 7 percent in the first year and 10 percent through the first five years. A favorable cumulative financial impact, net of investment, of up to $30 million is estimated through 2023.
