Global Link Logistics, a U.S. freight forwarder specializing in the movement of furniture, flooring and sporting goods from Asia, has expanded FLEX, its trans-Pacific express service, to cover markets in the Midwest. The company, a subsidiary of Golden Gate Logistics, is now serving Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. FLEX, which stands for Furniture Less-than-Container Express, was created to give North American furniture retailers and importers more cost-effective shipping options, Global Link said. It allows customers to consolidate orders as small as 300 cubic feet from multiple factories within the Asian manufacturing region, and ship directly to North American retailers. The service provides the cost benefits of a direct container shipment without the cash and inventory impact, the vendor said. Global Link's Single Point Customer Service allows for product visibility and tracking at any point in the shipping process. Features include imaged proof-of-delivery documents and event-status notifications in near-real time for each checkpoint across the supply chain.
