Half the time, retail stores skimp when it comes to securing their in-store wireless computer networks, according to a study by security vendor AirDefense. Far too often, the firm found, retailers use no encryption at all, and when they do, they use WEP, a security method that a moderately experienced hacker can crack easily. The infamous data leak at retailer TJX has been blamed on wireless hacking.
