Established in 1996, LMS claims a customer base that includes Monsanto and several other Fortune 500 companies. With revenues of more than $1.4bn, Transplace provides a broad range of logistics and transportation services, including outsourcing, carrier contract and negotiation, intermodal services and freight brokerage to manufacturers, retailers, consumer goods and chemical companies. Transplace also offers a proprietary, Web-based transportation-management system (TMS) platform. It is owned by Greenbriar Equity Group LLC. LMS chief executive officer Dennis Schoemehl will remain an adviser to Transplace CEO Tom Sanderson, while LMS president and chief operating officer Greg Umstead will continue to operate the business as a member of the Transplace leadership team. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
