The new technical services center and accompanying website were unveiled in Washington, D.C., during the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board. The initiative is a collaboration of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Institute of Transportation Engineers and Intelligent Transportation Society of America. The purpose of the center is to help transportation professionals utilize state-of-the-art, real-time management techniques to improve safety and system reliability, combat congestion and better serve the traveling public. It will offer peer exchanges, webinars, assessments, on-call assistance and training on such topics as integrated corridor management, active traffic management, traffic-management centers and incident response. The website includes case studies, a knowledge center, links to key sites, discussion forums and a calendar.
