Covering 2,000 square meters, the facility is located near the European distribution centers of 80 major medical device manufacturers, TNT said. Operating around the clock, the location will consolidate medical technology shipments from multinationals and small to medium-sized companies. From Heerlen, TNT can reach 96 percent of Europe’s 16,000 hospitals with next-day delivery. The majority of the shipped devices are used in surgery, the company said. The Heerlen site is connected to TNT's European road and air networks, via its hubs in Duiven, the Netherlands, and Liège, Belgium. TNT said it will also operate direct road connections between Heerlen and several European countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the U.K.
