Data can be uploaded to the device while other activities are being executed. In case of an emergency in the field, the N5Print includes an alert button that can be programmed to send an SMS text message while running an unrelated application, or no application at all. The device runs on version 4.4.4 (KitKat) of the Android operating system and features a hot-swappable battery, three-channel magnetic-stripe reader, smart-card reader and dedicated barcode scanner. A drop-in cradle with spare battery charge can be used for desktop or vehicle mounting.
