Advantech has added a new compact embedded computer to its ARK-4000 line of products. Equipped with an Intel Celeron M 1.0 GHz processor, the new ARK-4180 is resistant to vibration and shock. It can operate within a wide range of temperatures, from -40 to 75 degrees Celsius. It was developed from PCI-104 stackable modules, which create a rugged architecture. Each system is housed in a specially cast and milled solid aluminum block with thermal fins which help to dissipate heat. The device also incorporates a fanless thermal design with embedded heat pipes, which allow for wider temperature operation without active cooling. Special brackets on the aluminum enclosure permit additional enclosures to be stacked to add input/output and other functionality. Available now, the ARK-4180 is an all-in-one compact embedded computer which supports 6x USB 2.0 and 2x RS-232 connectors, as well as Ethernet LAN and VGA connectivity.
