TradeBeam, a vendor of global trade-management software, has brought new functionality to the online tracking and supply-chain visibility services of Global Link Logistics. Earlier this year, Global Link introduced FLEX, a less-than-containerload service for the furniture industry. Manufacturers and retailers can consolidate orders from single or multiple factories at origin. Serving as the IT backbone of FLEX is TradeBeam's Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM) platform. According to Tradebeam, it creates a resource for "one-stop" supply-chain visibility, providing access to the buyer's purchase order, vendor's shipment and Global Link's manifest and supply-chain events. The system generates data for the definition of shipments, packing, consolidation of multiple small shipments into containerized loads, and door delivery for retailers. With SCEM, Global Link can offer customers Web real-time access to vital shipping information, such as order status and inventory location. The system helps users to identify and resolve potential problems, TradeBeam said. Now, customers in the furniture industry can see their products by SKU, purchase order, customer or sales order, from the consolidation center at origin to the dealer's door. Special features include imaged proof-of-delivery documents and near-real-time delivery confirmations.
