Facton GmbH, a German maker of product lifecycle costing (PLC) software, has created a North American arm and commenced operations in Auburn Hills, Mich. The company is targeting the automotive industry and other manufacturers. Its software analyzes, simulates and optimizes product costs across all departments and through all product stages, from pre-quote to end-of-life. According to Facton, the product can shorten time to market, reduce the product costs of complex goods, increase efficiencies through use of a central, global database, and decrease the chances of incurring losses after product launch. Built on the Microsoft .NET framework, the software interfaces with existing systems, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), product data management (PDM), product lifecycle management (PLM) and computer-aided design (CAD).
