The initiative promotes market-based innovations for supply chains in the energy, agriculture, labor and finance sectors. According to Green America, it brings together diverse groups in "innovation networks" to address problems that no one company, investor or organization can tackle alone. One early project is a national working group to generate sustainable agriculture methods and pilot projects in the northeastern U.S. for the animal feed and dairy industry. The center is also in the early stages of launching several innovation networks, including a collaboration within the electronics industry to move toward zero toxic chemical exposure in manufacturing, and electricity market models for a renewables-based energy system.
