The base rate index, which excludes the impact of accessorial charges assessed by carriers, decreased 3.1 percent when compared to October. Average fuel surcharges assessed by carriers decreased marginally this month. Fuel was 12.94 percent of base rates in November versus 12.96 percent in October.
"Total freight costs continue to slide. Truckload, both domestic and cross-border, had the largest decline. Year over year, domestic LTL and truckload are still in negative territory, while cross-border truckload and LTL are up year over year," said Doug Payne, president and chief operations officer of Nulogx, a provider of transportation management solutions and the sponsor of the CGFI.
