Shoppers who place orders by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday will be able to select an option at checkout to have orders delivered by 7 p.m. There's a fee of $14.99, but this amount could change, as the project is beta tested.
The service is available in "specific areas of select markets," according to a company statement, and is now live in parts of Boston, Dallas, and Manhattan with other cities including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle to follow shortly.
Products will be identified as eligible for same-day delivery and the assortment includes thousands of products available in stores.
Unlike some retailers that are partnering with third-party delivery services such as Uber and Lyft, Staples will use its own delivery fleet.
