Built for an investment of $1.3m, the new facility covers 38,000 square feet and can process more than 2,500 shipments per hour. It sits just north of Chicago's Midway International Airport, servicing Chicago's South Side, south and west suburbs and northwest Indiana for pickup, delivery and sorting of international shipments. The DHL center will handle a variety of shipments, including international small parcels as well as palletized and container freight. It complements an 80,000-square-foot service center near O’Hare International Airport, serving businesses in northern Illinois as well as the Loop. In another company announcement, DHL has opened a pop-up shop in the greater Toronto area. Located in Scarborough Town Centre, the 700-square-foot facility will offer access to DHL’s Express Easy product, providing customers with a flat-fee option for the sending of international shipments.
