Industrial Data & Information, Inc. (IDII) has released its new "Premier List of Warehousing Software and Warehouse Management Systems." The latest publication includes 17 Web-based warehouse-management system packages, and 51 WMS applications for third-party logistics providers. It also features various "short lists" answering common WMS requests; they include WMS software that is low-cost, of high functionality, containing an extensive suite of modules, and with long experience in material-handling equipment. Full listings include enterprise resource planning (ERP) software with warehouse modules, as well as providers of systems for shipment manifesting, load optimization, warehouse simulation, warehouse control, slotting optimization, labor management and yard management. IDII said it has identified 13 WMS vendors with extensive software suites that include two or more modules that are not related to warehousing or transportation. Since 2004, the number of Web-based WMS applications has increased to 17 from 10, while 3PL WMS providers have growth to 51 from 39, IDII said.
