Glacier Computer has added an XP-based rugged tablet to its line of forklift and mobile computers designed for operating in harsh industrial environments. The Ridgeline is a 10.4-inch rugged tablet with integrated touch-screen interface. It was designed to withstand repeated drops onto concrete from a height of three feet. Each unit comes with integrated 802.11 a/b/g/ radio, Bluetooth, and numerous input/output and hard-drive options. Users can input data through touch or pen. Special software allows for signature capture and character recognition. The Ridgeline is meant for rugged portable applications in industries such as freight, construction, utilities and manufacturing. Glacier Computer designs and manufactures an array of rugged PC-based computers for harsh environments. It sells the Everest and Ridgeline models.
