Hercules Inc., a global producer of specialty chemicals, will continue to rely on Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. to manage its North American transportation operations. The company has signed a four-year renewal of its deal with Odyssey, a provider of logistics services for the chemical and process industries. The agreement covers exports from the entire region, certain imports and warehousing. Odyssey has been managing Hercules's North American transportation program since 2003, according to Bill Adams, director of Americas logistics. Its services range across all modes, including tank truck, less-than-truckload, truckload, ocean tanker, containership, warehousing and rail. Odyssey will support the movement of product from the manufacturer's plants and other shipping locations in North America to its customers around the world. Odyssey's transportation-management software interfaces directly with Hercules's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from SAP, incorporating SAP's order-management system directly into its freight-planning application. The link allows Hercules to have one view of its transportation supply chain. Adams said Odyssey has generated "substantial savings and measurable efficiencies" in the five years that it has handled the company's transportation. "We are initiating this second-generation relationship to take advantage of the new technology and advancements in logistics that Odyssey continues to develop," he said.
