The new chief executive of UPS expressed concerns about the U.S.economy during a talk early in January at the Atlanta Chamber of Commere. Scott Davis, who took the helm at the world's largest shipping carrier the first of the year, said that overall economic growth is lethargic and the country is at increased risk of falling into a recession. "Hopefully, we'll work our way through it," Davis said.
UPS previously said that its growth in the fourth quarter, which included the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, would be its slowest in four years, due mostly to weak U.S. retail sales. http://www.msnbc.msn.com
