Systech has released version 8.0 of its TIPS Engine, a packaging-execution system. The new version relies on building-block architecture to represent the workflow of a packaging line. By mirroring the actual packaging line in the software, data from each vision and line-management system streams more quickly to line applications such as Systech Serialized Product Tracking (SPT) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The new engine user interface employs icons to visually represent components and functions of the packaging-execution system. Line engineers can easily assemble and realign the icons as they implement and modify their packaging lines. The TIPS Engine is especially suited to the needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers, Systech said. Packaging-execution systems integrate the various information functions of packaging lines, including vision inspection, line management, serialization and performance measurement. A complete PES communicates directly with a company's enterprise software or other manufacturing applications. Systech TIPS Engine v 8.0 will be available to customers beginning in the first quarter of 2008.
