Wavetrend Technologies Ltd., a vendor of active radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, has released GlobalEyes, a global tracking tool which incorporates multiple communications and tracking technologies within a software-management suite. GlobalEyes offers real-time visibility and intelligence on the location, condition, and status of high-value assets. It can be used to monitor shipping containers; military, construction and mining personnel in high-risk environments; vehicles; cargo ships and railcars. The technology employs multiple modes of two-way communication--including active RFID, GPRS, SATCOM GPS, GSM and ZigBee wireless mesh networks--combined with a Web-based information-management bureau which offers remote and real-time visibility in critical applications. The system uses mobile reader infrastructure in place of a fixed reader. GlobalEyes is the result of a partnership between Wavetrend and System Planning Corp. It combines Wavetrend's active RFID products with System Planning's asset-tracking and condition-monitoring system.
