The continued growth in demand for air cargo is consistent with an improvement in world trade that saw new global export orders remaining close to a six-year high in May, IATA said.
However, there are some signs that the cyclical growth period may have peaked, indicated by a rise in the global inventory-to-sales ratio.
The outlook for air cargo remains optimistic despite these developments, according to IATA, which expects demand to grow at a robust rate of 8 percent during the third quarter.
