Amazon.com's Outfit Compare tool for Prime members is among the latest in an endless series of innovations with which the e-tailer hopes to dominate the retail sector - both online and brick-and-mortar. But Amazon's competitors aren't idly sitting by. All are looking to every bit of new technology to succeed in the era of "the connected consumer." That's one of the concepts to emerge from the latest edition of the "Future of Retail" report from Walker Sands Communications. On this episode, we're joined by two experts from the P.R. firm: Erin Jordan, account director and lead of the retail technology practice, and Rachel Gulden, senior account executive. They review a wide range of recent developments in retail, including the application of virtual and augmented reality, mobile payment, and the impact of the Internet of Things. They report on what consumers really want from merchandisers today. And they rate retailers on their progress toward creating "the endless aisle," combining unlimited selection with a highly personalized shopping experience.
