Confidex has introduced the Confidex Pino, a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag that can be used on wooden assets, including pallets. Designed to conform to Electronic Product Code (EPC) Gen 2 standards, the new tag is designed for durability and can easily be inserted into wooden assets, the vendor said. Confidex has also identified applications for the tag within the forestry industry, which is striving to make production more efficient. Hub Telecom, a subsidiary of Aeroports de Paris Group, has developed a tracking system based on the Confidex Pino tag for an asset-management project in France. The project involves the used of RFID-equipped wooden pallets for a food producer and large retail company. Other RFID tags in Confidex's product line include Ironside, Survivor, Steelwave, Corona and Cruiser. They have been used to identify IT assets, vehicles, railcars and reusable transit items, in areas ranging from arctic to subtropical climates.
