AeroScout, Inc. has teamed up with Reva Systems to sell radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, both active and passive, to businesses. AeroScout is a provider of asset-visibility systems over Wi-Fi networks. Reva develops RFID network infrastructure products for deployment in any environment. Under the new deal, Reva will provide a gateway for passive RFID data to AeroScout's new MobileView 4.0 application. Customers will get a single platform by which to view and manage business assets, regardless of the technology used. As the RFID market matures, a growing number of companies are simultaneously deploying active and passive systems, the companies said. AeroScout's MobileView software provides visibility of all assets throughout the organization. The two companies have integrated the MobileView 4.0 platform with Reva's Tag Acquisition Processor (TAP) appliance. The TAP manages RFID devices, processes raw data from a variety of standard passive RFID readers, and passes accurate tag and location information to MobileView. Passive RFID data provided through the TAP are unified with other real-time location, status and identification data from a variety of sources. MobileView 4.0 applies a consistent set of business rules to all data, the vendors said.
