To be sure, Amazon has been a hugely disruptive force in retailing. Shoppers these days are only too happy to buy many of their favorite products online, skipping trips to the store. In a time of strong growth in the general economy, many old-line merchandisers are struggling to survive. But Amazon isn’t the only cause of their woes. Underlying economic factors are playing a role as well. On this episode, we get the bigger picture from Vitaliy Katsenelson, chief investment officer with Investment Management Associates. He explains how consumer buying habits are changing in ways that go well beyond the so-called Amazon Effect. And he talks about what retailers must do now in order to keep pace with the fickle consumer’s modern-day purchasing preferences. The store of the future, he says, is likely to look a lot different than it does today. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Managing Editor of SupplyChainBrain.
