Wincor Nixdorf, a provider of information technology services and software to the retail and banking industries, is partnering with FedEx Global Supply Chain Services to create an improved service supply organization. The deal allows the Service Division of Wincor Nixdorf to repair automated teller machines or point-of-sale systems by utilizing the nationwide network of 24-hour FedEx Kinko's office and print centers. Wincor Nixdorf will maintain parts inventories at selected FedEx Kinko's locations, setting up forward-stocking outlets in all of its service areas. With the network in place, a Wincor Nixdorf technician can contact the closest FedEx Kinko's outlet, then pick up the part or arrange for it to be sent by messenger. According to the partners, the arrangement will reduce the time spent on repairs. In addition, the parts inventory of Wincor Nixdorf's U.S. service organization will be moved from its headquarters in Austin, TX to a central warehouse at FedEx's main stocking location in Memphis, Tenn. The relocation will simplify the process of shipping replacement parts to Wincor Nixdorf service territories throughout the country, the companies said.
