The worldwide market for warehouse management systems is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 7.5 percent over the next five years. The market was $1,257m in 2007 and is forecasted to be over $1,807m in 2012, according to a new ARC Advisory Group study. "The WMS market is a mature market that has been around for decades. And yet we have year over year growth in the double digits," according to Steve Banker, service director for supply chain management and author of ARC Advisory Group's Warehouse management System Worldwide Outlook report. "This growth has been driven by a technology refresh among customers with older systems, and the emergence of WMS in new verticals and parts of the world that that have not historically bought this solution."
