Schenker AG is doubling airfreight capacity from Dubai to Toledo, Ohio via Germany's Frankfurt-Hahn airport. Schenker introduced service on the route last June; it is now adding a second flight in response to "massive demand." The first aircraft in the service flies from Dubai to Toledo and back every Saturday. The second flies on Wednesdays. Frankfurt-Hahn is integrated into Schenker's European transportation network. Its U.S. domestic network lets the forwarder serve all major cities and economic centers from a single source. The airfreight service is closely linked with intermodal logistics services provided by Schenker on main routes from Asia to Europe. SchenkerSkybridge combines the economies of ocean freight from Asia via Dubai with the speed of airfreight. The service shortens transit times by as much as 50 percent over pure ocean freight, with costs that are up to 50 percent lower than pure air, the company claimed.
