GAC Logistics (UK) Ltd. has opened a new logistics facility at East Midlands Airport in Castle Donington, Derbyshire. The move triples the company's floor space in the area, allowing GAC to offer enhanced third-party logistics, warehousing and distribution services. The move represents the first step of a strategy to provide specialized services for fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, textiles and the entertainment industries in the U.K., GAC said. The new facility is located at the East Midlands Distribution Centre, a 140-acre, rail-connected national distribution operation. Centrally located within the U.K.'s road network, it offers easy access to the M1 and M6 motorways and other major routes. The site has its own x-ray facilities, a feature that will speed up the transport process by eliminating the need for extended closeout periods at airlines' delivery points, GAC said. Headquartered in Dubai, the GAC Group has nearly 300 offices worldwide.
