The Advanced Supply Chain Workbook is the name of a new publication which offers tips on business improvement to supply-chain professionals. The book lays out a "Roadmap to Improved Profits," including enterprise integration, corporate excellence, partner collaboration, value-chain constellation and full network connectivity. The five-stage maturity model takes managers from an organization based on discrete functional processes to one that embraces a "total business system." A five- to 10-year effort dedicated to supply-chain optimization, the authors claim, can add three to eight points of new profit to a company's financial performance. The workbook explains how leaders are accomplishing such results, and the techniques they are applying. It describes models, techniques, collaborative workshops and innovative systems that have been applied at hundreds of companies. And it explains the steps necessary for improving the top line through new revenues, and the bottom line through savings to specific parts of the financial statement. The authors of the workbook are Charles C. Poirier and William E. Houser.
