In the aftermath of the police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless other African-Americans, businesses across the nation stepped up with statements condemning racism and inequality in the workplace. But relatively few have taken any subsequent steps to turn that sentiment into action. She explains why the actions of so many companies today to promote diversity amount to little more than “entertainment value,” and tells us what they must do in order to progress beyond that stage of empty sincerity.
