RedPrairie Corp. has issued a new release of its E2e supply-chain execution software suite. According to the vendor, the update offers enhanced functionality to manage diverse distribution environments. It also allows for tighter integration between warehouse-management (WMS) and transportation-management (TMS) applications. The TMS can plan the sequence in which distribution orders are fulfilled by the WMS, based on the most economical shipment plan for meeting customer-service requirements. The TMS uses the store-shipment schedule to optimize routes and ensure that delivery agreements are met. The RedPrairie Collaboration Portal is used by carriers and suppliers to coordinate appointment scheduling with the WMS and TMS. For inbound processing, the system offers flexible assignment and movement of received inventory for pre-allocated distribution. The software also offers improved recall and quality-assurance capabilities. In a related announcement, RedPrairie has introduced an E2e Business Process Platform to manage cross-application business processes. Built on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web services technologies, the new platform provides a common point of integration for all RedPrairie and third-party applications, the vendor said. Other features include a process modeler for building and customizing business processes using a graphical user interface, a process monitor for dynamically tracking business activities and processes, a service repository for access to RedPrairie services and registration of other services, and a service bus for orchestrating and brokering transactions between systems. The platform is built on the latest 64-bit Microsoft Windows Server 2008 technology.
