Exostar has launched a Federated Identity Service (FIS) to aid global companies in managing online digital identities for employees and partners. The tool, offered under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, allows companies to issue digital credentials. It also supports applications for secure e-mail, information access control and digital signatures. Exostar's original version of FIS, for hardware-based digital credentials, was released in 2007, as part of the Commonwealth of Virginia's First Responder Authentication (FRAC) Pilot Program. The new, software-based credentials have a broader market appeal, Exostar claimed. FIS meets new standards of care related to online digital identities for industry and government employees. The service delivers certificates based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Through the SaaS subscription model, Exostar supports the issuance and complete lifecycle management of medium level of assurance (MLOA) software credentials to end-users. The company provides a secure collaboration platform for suppliers and manufacturers in aerospace and defense.
