FreightScan LLC has previewed CargoVizion, its new three-dimensional imaging system for cargo screening. The non-radiation unit attaches to the vendor's FS100 automatic dimensioning system, capturing a 3D image of the contents of cargo in seconds. CargoVizion scans 100 percent of cargo, from 12" by 12" boxes up to fully loaded skis and pallets, and can identify risk shipments for secondary screening. Working from an overhead mount, the FS100 eliminates the need to break down pallets, providing the precise location of potential threat objects. The equipment was premiered at the CNS Partnership Conference, held recently in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. FreightScan claims to have obtained commitments from four air carriers and one cargo handler to move ahead with onsite evaluations of the FS100. Two domestic carriers have agreed to be test sites for the pilot-screening program. FreightScan said it intends to have CargoVizion on the Transportation Security Administration's Qualified Product List by the end of 2008.
