Intermec has introduced a new rugged workboard printer that is intended to aid users in direct store delivery (DSD), home delivery and field-service applications. The PW50 printer is designed for use with Intermec's CN3, CN3e and CK61 handheld computers. In tandem with those devices, it provides a single bundle that can be easily transported or installed in a vehicle, Intermec said. Custom holders secure the handheld computer in the printer, while allowing for easy removal for scanning or data entry. Hand straps and shoulder straps are available to simplify the movement of equipment between the truck and point of delivery. The PW50 contains integration DEX communications capability, which allows for easy connectivity to in-store computer systems. Secure Bluetooth technology provides a safe transaction environment. The unit offers fast print speeds and optional integrated smart card and magnetic stripe readers for point-of-sale transactions. The PW50's dual-charging capability keeps both computer and printer batteries charged via a single electrical connection through the vehicle mount or 12-volt adapter. The printer was designed to withstand the bumps and drops that are common to mobile use, Intermec said.
