A review of critical supply chains uncovers major weaknesses in the consumer packaged goods sector.
President Biden’s executive order for a 100-day review of critical U.S. supply chains initially addressed semiconductors, batteries, minerals and pharmaceutical ingredients — all essential elements in ensuring a secure and stable supply of manufactured products. But while it wasn’t called out by name, the consumer packaged goods sector is directly impacted by the availability of those items, as well as food, apparel and any number of other consumer goods. On this episode, we discuss the state of the CPG supply chain with Tom Madrecki, vice president of supply chain and logistics with the Consumer Brands Association. He discusses what CPG producers have learned from the pandemic, the future of consumer brands, and the need to solve long-term systemic flaws in the system, in order to ensure a sustainable and secure supply chain for the years ahead. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
