Pacer Distribution Services, Inc. (PDS) has boosted its warehouse capacity in Southern California, with the opening of a 194,000-square-foot facility in the city of Carson. PDS now offers more than 800,000 square feet of space at its Southern California campus, offering complete warehouse, transportation and value-added services. The campus is an integral part of the logistics service network of Pacer International, Inc. parent company of PDS. Customers get full internet-based shipment visibility, including inventory, shipping documents and delivery status. The latest expansion is a response to customer demand for fast service from Southern California ports to domestic destinations, according to PDS president Kent Prokop. In addition to serving the traditional import market, PDS has been handling growing levels of export traffic through the Southern California campus. The Carson facility offers drayage to and from port facilities, along with high-velocity transloading for the movement of retail and other shipments to distribution locations in North America. The PDS fleet includes 130 owner-operator power units. The company also has facilities in nearby Lynwood and South Gate.
