MSC.Software, a vendor of simulation applications and services, has released SimManager R3, for handling simulation content and process management. The tool allows users to replace physical prototypes and tests with virtual equivalents that can be modified and tested quickly, the vendor said. New capabilities include the introduction of SimManager Workgroup Edition, providing out-of-the-box content management; an improved user interface and graphical process builder to speed up simulation process configuration; and improved utilization of Web services, for enhanced integration and compatibility with IBM's Websphere Process Server. In a related development, MSC.Software has developed the 2008 edition of its engineering analysis suite. Also new is the latest version of MD Technologies, a core component of MSC SimEnterprise, which includes MD Nastran and MD Adams. MD complements the company's core engineering technology with enhanced solver integration, allowing for greater simulation accuracy and improved system-level analysis. The 2008 release of the MSC Engineering Analysis Product Suite provides a common technology foundation for the vendor's MD Solutions. Users also get future compatible access to the complete SimEnterprise suite, which includes applications for discrete engineering processes as well as integrated multi-discipline tasks. The software also expands into simulation process management and automation. The 2008 release includes enhancements to Nastran, Marc, Dytran, Adams, Patran and Easy 5. The new engineering analysis release allows for direct connectivity to SimEnterprise. The MD suite provides a single solver foundation for various engineering disciplines such as structures, thermal, motion and mechatronics.
