MachineryLink, a major provider of combine leasing programs to agricultural producers in North America, has selected BNSF Logistics to provide equipment utilization services for MachineryLink's fleet operations and surge capacity management for seasonal demand.
Based in Kansas City, Mo., MachineryLink maintains seasonal service facilities in five locations across the United States. Its managed lease programs allows growers to significantly lower their equipment costs by providing the latest harvest technology and equipment with guaranteed delivery and pick-up.
MachineryLink expects BNSF Logistics to identify and facilitate optimal backhaul movements for its fleet, repositioning the specialized equipment into the company's key areas of need, while minimizing deadhead miles. As agricultural demand peaks, BNSF Logistics will also provide MachineryLink with additional specialized capacity to ensure consistent and timely service to its clients.
"BNSF Logistics' broad network of clients who utilize specialized equipment provides a volume balance for MachineryLink's backhaul needs," says Robert Sutton, director of supply chain services for BNSF Logistics. "During seasonal peaks, we are prepared to supply the additional capacity that MachineryLink will require."
"This relationship will be mutually beneficial," says Jim Bramlett, vice president of Logistics for MachineryLink. "[We] will see improved efficiency in truck utilization and BNSF Logistics will have additional resources and capacity to service their customer base."
