Swiss International Air Lines AG (Swiss) has launched a non-stop flight between Zurich and Shanghai. The new daily connection, using an Airbus A340-300 aircraft, boosts Swiss WorldCargo's capacity to and from China by 36 metric tons a day, the airline said. Major commodities produced in the region include machinery, high-tech products, chemicals and textiles. Swiss's flight LX189 departs Shanghai at 9:30 a.m. and arrives in Zurich at 3:40 p.m. The return flight LX188 leaves Zurich at 1:05 p.m. and lands in Shanghai at 6:35 the following morning. The A340 aircraft offers 18 tons of freight capacity in each direction. Swiss WorldCargo is the airfreight division of Swiss. It maintains a global network of more than 150 destinations in more than 80 countries.
