Sato, a vendor of automatic identification and data collection (AIDC) products, has released Label Gallery 3, the latest version of its labeling software. The update features two new software-development kits, improved printing control, Unicode compliance and Windows CE.NET support for mobile devices. Label Gallery 3 includes a free version ("Free"), basic edition ("Easy"), full version ("Plus") and the high-end TruPro, which is also offered in a pocket or network version. New features include two Developer Series offerings, including Label Gallery SDK for PCs and Label Gallery Pocket SDK for mobile devices. Label Gallery is now Unicode-compliant in all modules for multilingual label printing. Pocket Label Gallery has been rewritten from scratch and built on the Windows CE.NET compact framework. The new version supports a wider range of mobile devices and allows for easier upgrades and modifications, the vendor claimed. Other enhancements in Label Gallery 3 include a new installer using Windows Installer technology, improvements in licensing and activation, and improved printing control. For printers that allow bidirectional communication with the GalleryDriver, users can review the printer status in real time, Sato said. The new label reprint feature also provides the ability to reprint labels to the same or a different printer.
